Indie gamers were treated today with the Nintendo Indie World showcase. The live-streamed event previewed dozens of indie games that are scheduled to arrive on the Nintendo Switch throughout the year, including some awaited DLCs and sequels like Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith and Blasphemous II. Here’s everything that was announced during this year’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase.
Blasphemous II – Summer 2023
The Penitent One returns in the sequel to 2019’s Blasphemous. Donning new weapons and abilities, you’ll fight your way through a pilgrimage cursed by “The Miracle,” avoiding traps and slaying ravaged enemies in the twisted and dark metroidvania of Blasphemous II.
Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals – July 12
The sequel to 2016’s Oxenfree reintroduces the side-scrolling adventure and explores new mysteries in the form of a corrupt cult that’s using magnetic waves to alter the world. Oxenfree 2 ushers in new mechanics such as a walkie-talkie system and dynamic relationship choices that allow you to determine how the story will play out.
Animal Well – Early 2024
Animal Well is a pixelated 2D platformer that takes place in a dark, yet glamorous, labyrinth. The world of Animal Well is dense and populated, holding various creatures of varying hostility that may prove helpful or harmful. You choose where to go in this treacherous world that’s big enough for tremendous amounts of exploration.
PlateUp! – October 2023
The hit roguelite restaurant management game is making its way to Nintendo Switch. Up to four friends can team up to cook, clean, and serve customers in the fast-paced video game reminiscent of games like Overcooked and Diner Dash.
Teslagrad 2 / Teslagrad Remastered – Available Today
Travel across the Scandinavian-inspired land, fending off beats of all kinds and listening to the score derivative of Nordic folklore in Teslagrad 2. Also, experience the world of the first game with updated visuals in Teslagrad Remastered.
Mineko’s Night Market – September 26
Mineko’s Night Market is an artistic, storybook adventure sim in which you interact with townsfolk and take part in the activities of the night market. Explore the island and solve puzzles in this cozy-looking adventure game.
My Time at Sandrock – Summer 2023
From the creators of My Time at Portia comes the RPG town-building sim, My Time at Sandrock. Experience the captivating story that calls you to rebuild the destroyed desert town, befriend the townsfolk, and scavenge the surrounding caverns all whilst protecting the town from the presence of several monsters.
Rift of the Necrodancer
The artsy rhythm game, Rift of the Necrodancer includes a unique storyline with lane-based combat similar to the lane-based gameplay of the Guitar Hero games. Face off a plethora of monsters through music and experience the stories of the 5 different characters Rift of the Necrodancer.
Shadows Over Loathing – Available Today
The 1920s-based stick figure RPG, Shadows Over Loathing, includes peculiar creatures and silly fun housed within a sinister plot in which your search for your father plummets into facing the end of the world.
Crime O’Clock – June 30th
Travel across multiple eras, solving cases and changing the course of history in Crime O’ Clock. There are over 40 cases to solve in this extensive puzzle exploration game.
Quilts and Cats of Calico – Fall 2023
Based on the board game, Calico, Quilts and Cats of Calico will have up to four players piecing together different pieces of fabric in order to make a quilt that attracts different cats.
Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith DLC – April 24
Play through a new unlockable quest, recruit new followers, and use all new abilities and relics to fight even tougher bosses than before in this free DLC, Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Fath. There’s also a brand new photo mode, along with a permadeath, gauntlet, and boss rush mode.
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Puzzlers Pack DLC – Spring 2023
Unlock 2 new playable characters and complete new challenges in Castle Quandary in this free Puzzler’s Pack DLC. You’ll also benefit from new relics in Chester’s Shop and new hats from Mr. Hat.
A Little to the Left: Cupboard and Drawers DLC – June 2023
The cozy organization game, A Little to the Left, introduces the paid DLC, Cupboards, and Drawers, which includes more complex assortments to play with and organize.
